World of SmackDown: SmackDown Recap and Results for 11/28/09
Bridgeport, CT – Jericho starts the night out, coming out to some tremendous heat. He informs the crowd that he and Big Show will be taking on the “juvenile delequents†DX in a TLC match at, well, TLC.

To Jericho, a TLC match isn’t about catch phrases, and cheap merchandise. A TLC match is the most dangerous match created in the WWE and that only eight have ever been done before for a reason. Jericho informs us that DX has never been in a TLC match, while he has participated and won in two.
The crowd is giving Jericho a lot of “you suck†chants. “Overrated” is in there as well. He says as long as he holds the tag titles, they never will, and that he deserves respect from the crowd and everyone in the back. Jericho says that Teddy Long is slapping him in the face and is infuriated that there is a No. 1 Contender match tonight and he’s not involved.
Out comes Teddy Long. Jericho tells him that he is the face of the show and that he should give him whatever he wants. Teddy gives Jericho kind of what he wants, and puts him in a non-title match with the Undertaker.
Commercial
Ugh, so full of leftovers.
Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty
I can’t say I’m surprised that these guys are facing off since, oddly, there aren’t any other tag teams for them to fight. JTG gets the offense started early, but after a counter, Kidd makes the tag to DHS. DHS executes an excellent standing vertical suplex and then brings Kidd back into the ring. After a counter by JTG, both big men get into the ring with Shad taking complete control until the match ends in incredibly predictable fashion. In fact, I believe this was the way Cryme Tyme lost last time they were in action. Let me break it down:
1. Tyson Kidd throws JTG over the top.
2. Shad turns his back to DHS and clotheslines Kidd out.
3. DHS lifts up Shad for a slam and a 3 count.
Has anyone else noticed this tag-team “win scenario” playing out lately across the WWE?
We go to Teddy’s office to catch him and the Friday Night Delight, John Morrison discussing him taking on anyone from Team Miz that beat him at Survivor Series. But they are quickly interrupted by Vickie Guerrero and Eric Escobar. Vickie reminds Teddy that he cannot book any matches without consulting her and then she recommends that Escobar get a title a shot against JoMo. He agrees, but this will be Escobar’s only random title gift.
We then catch up with CM Punk making his way down the hall with a brown paper bag. One can only guess what’s in there.
Commercial
Punk makes his way to ring with a friend: a pretty big dude in a skull cap and camo pants. Punk begins to explain that straigtedge is his crusade and that he will continue his crusade as long as there are people out there who need help. People who need change in their lives.
He then introduces his friend, Luke Gallows, the wrestler formerly known as Festus. I missed the whole Festus and Jesse thing, but apparently Punk has rehabbed Festus. Punk also announces to the crowd that on December 1st, a scary new drug hits stores and that we need to beware of it. Its worse than alcohol or pills: It’s the new Jeff Hardy DVD.
Punk continues to bash Hardy and tells the booing crowd to view the last match on the DVD which is of course is their cage match that retired Hardy from the industry. He is then interrupted by a clearly angry Matt Hardy.
Matt defends his brother and tells Punk he knows nothing about his brother.
CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy
They get started and OF COURSE Hardy goes for an early Twist of Fate, which OF COURSE Punk snakes out of.
Commercial
When we come back, Punk is in control, focusing on Hardy’s left arm and it looked as if Punk could have put Hardy away after he rammed his shoulder into the ring post. Hardy gets back into the match with a Side Effect and then a mid rope leg drop. Hardy prepares to take the match, but Gallows interferes and saves Punk and the two simply go to town on Hardy with Gallows executing a “gallows pole†slam as Striker called it. It looks like Punk has a partner in crime and could perhaps be preparing for a run in the tag-team circuit.
Commercial
We come back to Josh Matthews interviewing Mickie James who he asks a very serious question, “How are you feeling after being picked on in the past few weeks.†She says she belongs on SmackDown and Michelle McCool and Layla will not push her around. You go girl.
Commercial
Batista vs. Kane
To decide the No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at TLC
The two stare each other down and then Kane immediately goes for Batista’s throat. Grisham and Striker discuss that Kane has never been World Heavyweight Champion, something I find incredible. The two are having a pretty slow match. Fists are flying, a few submission holds here and there. Batista goes for the Batista Bomb, but Kane counters it. Batista gets back into control and begins to attack Kane’s knee as we go to commercial.
Commercial
Batista is still working on Kane’s knee and it’s starting to get a bit ridiculous watching him dominant Kane. Kane is able to land a big boot on Batista and get back into the match. Kane is really selling that bad knee. Kane takes a big risk going for the clothesline from the top rope but opens himself up for attack from Batista. Kane eventually lands the choke slam, but Batista gets his foot up on the lower rope and breaks the count. Batista rolls to the outside, and Kane pursues him, but as the two fight in the area where the belts and ring bell are kept (what is that place called?), Batista uses a chair to jab at Kanes knee and then makes his way to the ring. The ref counts to ten and Batista wins by count out.

Eric Escobar vs. Intercontinental Champion John Morrison
Intercontinental Title Match
Vickie Geurrero comes out to introduce Eric Escobar, followed by JoMo, now with multicolor pyro. Oh hey, will you look at that, Morrison won. Sorry, my entire family is now sitting in the living room watching, the recap might get a little harebrained from here out.
Oh man, Vickie is going nuts on Escobar. Oh wow, she just slapped him! Interesting.
Commercial
Escobar catches up with Vickie and the two are pretty much done. Escobar reveals that he is in fact disgusted by her and storms off.
A re-cap then plays of what happened on RAW Monday. For a more complete look, check out Mike Scanlon’s recap!
Batista’s music plays and it looks like he will be joining Grisham and Striker at ringside.
Commercial
Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho vs. World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker
Non-title match
Undertaker takes it to Jericho early, landing some strikes and a his classic top rope attack before knocking Jericho out to the floor.
Commercial
When we come back, Undertaker has placed Jericho on the apron and drops the guillotine leg drop. Batista then distracts Undertaker long enough for Jericho to drop Undertaker with leg drop as he comes back into the ring. ANNNND, my family is distracting me.
Undertaker fights back with his trademark strikes until falling to a Lionsault. The family cheers as Undertaker sits right up after the attack and puts the choke on Jericho, setting him up for the Tombstone. But here comes Batista taking out the Undertaker’s knee. Jericho is able to get a Code Breaker off before Batista causes some chair calamity and Undertaker lays a crumbled mess at his feet.
Quick Hits
The Hart Dynasty d. Cryme Tyme
Matt Hardy d. CM Punk via disqualification
Batista d. Kane via count out
John Morrison d. Eric Escobar
The Undertaker d. Chris Jericho via disqualification

I’m getting really bored watching Cryme Tyme wrestle The Hart Dynasty….oh well as long as the THD wins, who cares? I think that move that DH Smith used on Shad is an awful finisher.
The fact that Festus could look so freaken tough blew my mind, I expected Matt to lose, mainly because “Luke Gallows” was at ringside. Maybe they’ll put him and Slam Master J in a feud to help elevate him…..and maybe Jimmy Wang Yang will beat Taker for the world title, lol.
I like Batista and Kane matches as the two normally put on decent ones, but I am yet to see one that compares to the one they had before Batista faced Taker at Wrestlemania 23
My mouth was watering at the hope we were gonna see JoMo vs Drew Mcintyre but alas to no avail….oh well JoMo said it best when he said his match with Eric Escobar was gonna be “fun”, my guess is they realized how sorely they are in need of faces on Smackdown, and what is the fastest way to turn anyone face? Have them turn on Vickie of course.
well I guess Jericho finally got his win over Taker even if it was by DQ.
Didn’t Batista hit ‘taker though? So, Jericho would lose by DQ.
Well I think he might need to fix that in the quickhits of his review
You are correct sir! My mistake.
Sometimes when the matches end like that its hard to really say what the “result” is.
Actually, I thought I heard Striker or Grisham say something like “well Jericho finally got his victory over Undertaker!”.
Man that Escobar is boring me.
Yeah, Eddie Guerrero did Eddie Guerrero really well.
Escobar. Not so much.
AGREED.
Let it be known that the TWD is pro-Kane.
