APW King Of The Indies Tournament – October 26, 2001

Looking back on this event, it was truly a who’s who of future superstars. The show ran over two days, with the first one being used solely for the first round of the tournament.

Going into the second day, Doug Williams, Bison Smith, Donovan Morgan, Samoa Joe, American Dragon, Christopher Daniels, A.J. Styles, and Low Ki were all competing to claim the title of King Of The Indies for the year 2001, and that doesn’t even include the guys that were eliminated such as Brian Kendrick (as Spanky), Frankie Kazarian, and now two time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce.

The quarter finals of the event saw the following matches take place:

  • Donovan Morgan vs. Bison Smith
  • American Dragon vs. Doug Williams
  • Low Ki vs. Samoa Joe
  • Christopher Daniels vs. A.J. Styles

That’s what you call a stacked card! The final of the tournament saw American Dragon win over Low Ki, but the fans will always remember the spectacle that they saw over those two magical days. The DVD is available to purchase for just $20 for those of you that are interested, and it’s well worth the money.
